A “must do” for anyone who is visiting Riópar and its surroundings. Just 4 kilometers from Riópar in road to Cañada del Provencio , CEA La Dehesa facilities allow visitors to learn about the fauna of the mountains.
Jorge and Marta, from CEA la Dehesa, take a lifetime dedicated to the car their loved animals: deer, fallow deer, mouflon, raptors, goats, wildcats, and, of course, Iberian wolves, among other interesting species. La Dehesa organizes guided tours for all ages throughout the year. This is an itinerary guided by caregivers of these magnificent specimens of the Iberian fauna. This is not a zoo. It is a mountain farm where the native vegetation and trees are in perfect conditions and animals live in their environment in semi-liberty. The tour lasts about 3 hours, but it is so entertaining that at the end one is left wanting more. The truth is that animals “hooked” and listening the explanations, anecdotes and stories of Martha and Jorge is a privilege. It is a really good chance to chat with people who have lived in such an intense contact with nature. If you are lucky and if by the time you do the visit there has been a wolf birth, you may live the unique experience of playing with Iberian wolf cubs. There is nothing to fear because they have been fed by humans since they were only a couple of days old. They have adapted their behavior to the contact with humans. They will bit your clothes, they will lick you all, they will play with you as if you were another wolf cub … Contact with a wolves is something that marks you deep inside forever.
